KWT, Kuwait, Kuwait City: Kuwaiti women demonstrate outside the all male Kuwaiti Parliament before the session convenes to discuss a proposal granting Kuwaiti women full political rights.  Kuwait was the first country in the region to have a written constitution and elected Parliament but women’s rights have been strongly opposed by conservative tribal and Islamist MPs.  Other conservative Islamic countries like Iran, Qatar and Indonesia allow women to vote and to run for public office.
