Campaign banners in support of incumbent president Hosni Mubarak in the upcoming presidential elections dominate the streets of down town Cairo. The majority of campaign posters and banners appearing throughout Cairo are placed by supporters of the incumbent President as an act of loyalty and to demonstrate their support for him during the upcoming presidential elections.

Opposition Parties Demonstration Cairo, September 1, 2005

Under intense security measures and with hundreds of riot troops deployed, demonstrators from three opposition parties, including the banned Muslim Brotherhood, gathered outside the Union of Lawyers in downtown Cairo calling on the ouster of incumbent President Hosni Mubarak, the release of political prisoners and suspension of emergency (martial) law under which Egypt has been ruled for over two decades.  Such demonstrations have become more vocal in the run up to the September 7 Presidential elections.
